My mate has a 1200 MTC, wild web cams, 38 carbs, valves sunk into head (2mm oversize) and we are dead level in every department and yet my mods are minor in comparison
I have no doubt the response, fuel economy, is due to these carbies, I had GPZ900R carbs (34mm)before these but the difference was noticeable when I fitted the ZRX1100 (36mm).
I had the adapters machined for the standard rubber inlets (GPZ900R) and matched to ports. there are two bars hold the carbies together, I welded a spacer (forgot how big) to make the space between the centre carbs larger, the plastic T piece can handle the extra spacing as is. The choke actuator is thin and can be more difficult to weld. The standard ZRX carbs had a small 98 main jet and 38 minor jet, I changed the main to 132 and minor to 40 on my first try and it worked straight off (obviously other bikes will be different).
For the street these in my opinion will be better than the racing carbs fitted to my friends Z900, your choice.

Just to make it clear, I'm not saying that the CV's are a better carby, for racing with richer mixtures the fixed slide carb is probably better with quick response, but for road/ touring/ economy I have no doubt the CV is better because the slide responds to your motor requirements/ intake.

Is that Cairns, because once every few months I go to work at the naval base to help the little possums fix/ service equipment.

I ran 38 flat slides on my 1327 for a while,they worked really good on the top side but 33s worked better for running around town.

Thanks Mark, this forum is excellent with some really great people, I aso belong to another bike forum (guess)and they seem to be in a bitch mode where they correct spelling mistakes and if you ask a question in a wrong way watch-out.
Anyway, in answer to your question, I think the cables I got were from a VTR250 honda (I'll check tonight), they fit straight in. I did have issues trying to stop them from binding when you turn the steering on full look either way hence a bit of slop on the take-up (but not annoying). But don't forget I have ZRX CV cabies and not the standard type
