Hi just bought a KZ

Hi My name is Les and I live in centrial NY. I just bought a 81 kz305 and I am looking to fix it up so I joined these forums to get some info if I need any. I paid $43.00 for the bike and had it running in a few hours. I just had to clean the carbs and points and it fired up. the guy I bought it from started working on it and painted the whole thing with cheap Walmart paint. I am in the process of cleaning it all off with acetone the chrome under it is beautiful. the odometer says it has 4000 miles I don't know if it is 104k or 4k I am hoping it is 4k.

I'm betting on 4k miles. I don't know of anyone who has put 104k miles on a KZ305. In either case, you got a heck a deal! Ed

I dont know the hand grips and foot pegs look new and as I was peeling the inspection stickers off the top one said 94 then 82 then 81 so that tells me the bike has only been on the road for three years but who knows that really is not enough proof.

I offered him $50 he was hard up for money I think, but I did not have $50 on me at the moment so I gave him all the money in my wallet $13.00 and he said just give him $30.00 more when I get it. he gave me the title, wrote out a bill of sale, and I went to the ATM. He got the bike given to him for free but he does not have the knowledge to fix it.

Here is an update on the kz305 it took lots and lots of elbow grease. I still need a few parts though like a Battery, tail light lens, mirrors, air filter, tires, and all the bulbs are blown. I am having a hard time finding the air filter. any ideas where I can find one?

Is that the same bike? Amazing!!! Great work! And it runs to boot. Did you get it painted? Or did you buy new body parts?
