whats up kzrider?
ive been into bikes for goin on 30 years, in order 82 nighthawk 450, 86 ninja 1000, 87 fz 700, 95 cbr600f3, 99 zx7r, 80 ltd 1000,93 cbr600f2 fighter, 86 xr 600r, 95 cbr 900rr, 04 tw200, and im finally building a bike ive wanted for a while, a kz1000 fighter, with a braced frame and modern legs and sneakers, ill be doing a build thread as soon as i take some pics, my donor is a rustbucket csr1000 thats been yard art for a long time, the last sticker on it says 93, the frame is solid, clean paper, and the mill has 6600mi and turns over, everything else is junk, i also have a kz900 for parts, the bodywork is good, motor is junk, wish me luck...
oh yeah, if you see my sidekick forkbeard on here, take it easy on him, hes the sensitive type...

damn Leon, dont get him riled up, you will make him start spitting big words and we will have to break out the theasaurus,(but i did see somethin shiny in there) anyways, here is the csr, i hope that doesnt stand for "cant stay running" or maybe it means "cant scrap rust"... we will see...

thanks Leon, i wish i got one before i binned the tank and seat, but i couldnt wait to pull that crap off, the tank was totally rusted out, and the seat was in pieces with a hornets nest in there, the steering is completely frozen, and everything is shot, but damn, that motor doesnt look half bad!!

well i got her torn down, basically every time i looked at it i wanted to vomit, so it was neccesary.
the whole time i kept thinking, WTF am i doing? why? why am i doing this? every nut, fastener, etc. rusted solid, what a pain in the balls, but at least i got most of that garbage out of my shop. my engine number is KZTOOJE009859, thats a J motor right???? im having a hard time finding info on the 80-up kz1000s, specially the CSRs,how do i find what parts will work from my 76 900? will there be a lot of mods to get the bodywork, seat, on there? the frame is too wide for the kz tank, can i use a hammer to clearance the tank? a lot of ???????s i know, sorry, heres my donor 900 parts bike with a rusted block, i have a bunch of pics on my digi that i will post up soon, thanks everybody, im going to go chase a cue ball around the table and drink a couple pops

which frame are you going to use ? the 2 bikes use totally differant mounting systems for motor

Hmmmm... I see in your picture Vise Grips, a caulk gun, and a wood chisel in your arsenal of tools. Were these recommended by the previous owner as the set of special tools for this model? :woohoo: :whistle:
