The stock headlight is a sealed beam unit and isn't very bright. You could convert yours to Halogen. Candlepower.com

I was told a car headlight can't take the vibrations and shocks as good. Just like not using a rubber damper on a motorcycle headlight mount you might end up burning them out pretty quick.
