it is a basic(but way cool )1977 kz1000 i think...i had one just like it and other than a rear akron aluminum rim/rear shocks.. and a very close to yours ,sky blue paint job it was stock....i did a lot of messing with the chassis and never upgraded anything(the summer of beer saw to that spending solution )...but got it set to suit me and it wasa rally great handeling super super strong running...reliable bike...that is what i first think when i see that model to this day...i think how fun mine was that summer...stable.well behaved,daily/and very late nights, runner,...
other folks sometimes knock that model kz1000,but not me ...mine was a terror and was stock....good luck and welcome....

Nice looking bike. Yeah looks like a 77 A1. I see a cut down or LTD seat. No chrome rear fender and drilled disc (not stock).

OK... next inevitable question. What's it worth? Everything is functional, runs, rides, a little bit of smoke when it's 1st started, needs a tail light bulb, new fork seals, regulator, rear master cylinder, tires.

anyone??? I don't want to 2nd guess myself, and I'm pretty stoked about picking this bad boy up. Also, been searching the forum all afternoon, what is the best service to do right away? I'm planning on a new gasket set, rings, valve seals, clean and synch carbs, maybe replace sprockets and chain, new clutch, check pads and off I go... anything else I should focus on?
thanx

Welcome.
Your gonna need tires right away. $200 (cheap tires + ballancing) or more for that.
That'll be a couple hundred more $$. If you have to pay someone, double it.
How many miles on her?
I'd not offer more than $1000.

Alright... finally got the KZ home! Now, She runs, but I am planning on doing some preventative maintanace before taking her out on the maiden voyage. I do not have a ton of $$$ to spend at this point, what are the common issues, problems etc. that I should look to remedy if I want to make this my daily rider this summer? I am planning on taking it down to the frame next winter and making some... adjustments. The bike has 20,600 on the odo.
As of right now:
there seems to be a gremlin in the electrics... lights and display dimming etc. so that's the 1st order of business. Also small amount of smoke upon startup (valve seals???) the tachy doesn't work and one of the carbs has a sticky float.
I am planning on:
new clutch
rebuild the carbs
new sprockets and chain
valve seals
and maybe rings...
any other suggestions?

The real question is, whats it worth to you? I paid 2001.00 for mine on ebay and spent another 1600.00 on a carb job, fork seals, ect, ect, ect. I'm about 4500.00 in on my 78 ltd1000 and havent even rode it a mile yet. I cant wait till spring. Enjoy your new work of art and keep the rubber side down. Welcome.
