First I say hi! I wanna chop a Kz1000 I have a guy who will build one for me. He had a kz650 that he had chopped and made it into a hardtail. He says he can build me one just like it. I have some questions about the bike of choice but, first I wanted to know If I would get nothing but hassles and jeers:angry: if I would chop one.

Here is the pic of the one the guy had before.

You build what you want and ride what you love. Sure you will have some people throwing "good jobs" and some "not my cup O' tea"...so what? You are riding what you love. One thing about this place is there are many styles of riders here. Strangely enough we get along pretty well. Sure some threads get going pretty good with opinions being thrown around with some gusto but it's all good. Besides if someone gets really nasty the crowd turns and devourers them. Well OK actually the MODS make them dissappear. They say you can see their headlights getting dimmer and dimmer. But you might just have to take and give a little jousting. I'm sure the chopper crowd will encourage you. Bring it on! ;)

i myself didnt have the heart to cut up my 1000, but i didnt think twice about my 650. Here is a pic of the frame. If you have a welder it is a very easy process, on ebay they even sell prebent pipe kits/axle plates for $100 if you wanna go that route. Thats what i did just to take out the guess work and it was my first one.

Cool I just wasn't sure if this was a resto pure-ist site and I would be admonished for cutting up a perfecrtly beautiful classic motorcycle?? Sounds like i'm good tho! I just love the way these bikes look and sound. I was checkin out the honda cb 750s but Kawis are much cooler and obviously more badass!

I see you have floorboards. Did that start as a police issue kz1000 or did it just come with the floorbords?

Have to agree with some of the others, 1973-1975 Z1, no friggin way would I chop/modify on of those beauties.

My decision was debated over a 3 month period and research. 1976 KZ900-A4, dime a dozen so the decison was made, MODIFY the hell out of her!!!

Same time, it's your bike and you do what you want. All we ask (demand) is you do it right and post images... We all love images here for we're whores that way.

Meaning with taste and class for these old girls, they have earned that respect.

Just don't defame her, treat her with love, beautify her and no one (98% of us anyways) will be an asswipe.

BTW, Jordan, Mark1122, HerrDeacon, Oldkaws4ever and one of my favorites 79MKII and numerous others have done some truly beautiful work.

Just do the old girl tastefully in what ever you do...;)
