Hi, I just bought an 79 SR 650 (semi runs). I am sure I will be asking some questions as I dig into the bike.

Hey Scotty,
Welcome to KZR. That's a great bike, but I suggest you e-bay that seat. One of the best things about these old bikes was that you didn't need highway pegs because the rider could just readjust his butt any time his knees said HELP.

That seat just don't match the bike :woohoo:

I sure would like to find a 650 SR with a bad motor real cheap, I don't think my 750 twin is gonna keep up with my nephews GPz750 motor KZ650SR :S

[That seat just don't match the bike ]

With that seat and highway peg set-up, it looks like someone could give birth on that bike. I agree, the seat's gotta go. Real nice bike.

I just have to agree that the seat is going to go (my butt isn't that big anyway) but my first thing is to get it running correctly.

It has a real bad miss to it maybe 2 cylinders not firing, wrong coils on bike (they where zip tied to frame), bad gas leak from petcock, some lights not working, but overall in good shape.
look at mounting bolt holes on coil, if you can see em?

sorry about the photo it's a camera phone

Good to hear. Did the semi running have anything to do with why it was sold? Even better deal for you then, I usually think the worst and was going to ask which 2 cylinders, but then we'd be moving toward the electrical forum.

yeah that was a main point why it was being sold, I had my suspicions that it was something simple once I saw the zip ties.
