HI,

Really a nice bike you have....

I solve this problem by buying a 1981 Kz1000J which I'm looking to change the swingarm and forks. This way, it doesn't break my heart to playing with my 1100R.

A Kz1000J is a great bike but over here (In Quebec) it doesn't have a big value so you can get one for less than 1,000$. I personaly you will lose more than that changing the 1100r...

Next step is to convince the wife to have more than 1 bike............. that another story....

By the way, where are you from?

Thanks for the advice,if only. I'll have to work on the wife for multiple bikes ( afterall XMAS is coming up ).How do you work insurance on more than one bike though, it's expensive enough for the few months of riding as it is.
By the way, looks like you lucked out on your recent purchase, looks in great shape.
We reside in Petawawa, Ontario.

Gary

Just to see where Petawawa was I entered you into Google maps and it found you just fine.:P
but when I asked for directions it took a few minutes...1255 miles but I am sure an interesting 21hr drive. Hello up there neighbor!;)

Insurance is pretty cheap here in Quebec. Immatriculation is 70$ for each bike since they're over 25 years old and insurance is around 150$ each.

I sold my harley for those bikes. The harley was costing over 1,000$ for insurance and immatriculation. This was my major point to make my wife accept having a few bikes in the garage..... ;)

Hey your so close, we could make a Canadian ELR meeting someday!!!

Exactly what is immatriculation? Would that be registration and license plates? If so, it's about $25 on my old bikes.

Are you guys kidding me? I'm paying over $700 here in Ontario. In Nova Scotia it was more reasonable, $185.
NO ACCIDENTS AND BEEN DRIVING SINCE 16 YEARS OLD. That was the cheapest I could find, although I didn't ride last year ( not home long enough to make it worth it.

Is that liability only? $700? WOW. Remember I have only about $2400 invested in BOTH my bikes. Could it be your age? I am..um...over 40 lets say..... And remember both of my bikes are 650ccs. I'm sure my insurance agent goes by displacement because that is what she wanted to know when I called for a quote.

Yeh you could be right about the cc's, anything over 1000 and the price shoots up. That is just for the bare minimum but they said the price will drop to only 500 next year. I'm not 20 years old either (39). My disdane for Insurance companies is only overshadowed by that for telemarketers and call centers located in India (no offence ment to anyone). So frustrating.

Hey gary. Dont sweat it, the conversion you are referring to is pretty simple and everything can be swapped back to original easily too. so just clean up the original parts you remove, hose em down with WD40 and put them somewhere relatively dry for the day you choose(God forbid)to sell it or if you want to change it back to original. One consolation is is that the parts you are thinking of using are all mother Kawi anyway. Message me if you need any help with this one since I've just finished mine.
