polished tank

Here's a shot of the Honda I gave my buddy. I talked him into painting the frame red and stripping the tank. Both are things I want to do to my bike, too...

Well, for NOW, I'm sticking with the 'winter camoflauge' (sp?). I just put another couple coats of clear on the side covers/seat cowling (a.k.a. 'ducktail'!!!...not that you didn't already know that!) but I might just go with another attempt at the faux metal finish. Here is a pic that I MAY have already posted:

BTW...This pic was taken BEFORE I did some polishing on the tank. I kinda dig the burnished look---similar to that wacko mickey rourke's bike in the movie (shitty as it was!)'Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man'.

How about painting the sidecovers and tail gloss black with some stripes or something done in either chrome tape or that silver metal flake stuff that you put onto some glue and then brush away what you don't want. I forget what they call it. I think it would help show off the tank. The "winter cammo" does not do it justice.

I hear ya, Kawtoy...I AM partial to the black look. I'm still considering it. You'd be surprised at how good the camo looks in person. I figure that with rattlecan and a friend with a blasting cabinet, I can re-do the paint any ol' time I want!

Go through the gallery. It's a special process (electroless plating) that you can't get from a rattle can. I sent an email to the company to find out if there's anyone in my area who can do this to my side covers. I think a tailpiece would look awesome chromed, but I have my stock LTD chrome fender and no duckbill.
