Very nice!!

I was wondering what you did for prep on the parts that you painted with the House of Kolor 3 part?

I think you did a kicka** job and you should get a pat on the back.Be proud of yourself and your work. I'd buy you a beer if I was there. I like the color too.You don't happen to have a before pic do you? I also like the fork lower painted. ;)

Sorry, I didn't take any before pics. I can give you a good idea of what it looked like though. It was last registered in '92, and had been sitting outside since then. It wasn't too rusty, just looked very worn. The worst part was the huge dent in the left side of the tank. I cut out the damaged section, fabricated a new piece out of 18 gauge steel, welded the patch in, and the smoothed it out with a little body filler. As far as prep work for the painted parts: I made sure the parts to be painted were straight and smooth. The side covers and tail section were still in the original blue paint, so I sanded them down a bit to rough up the surface so the new paint would adhere well. Otherwise I just made sure I wiped everything down with wax and grease remover before painting. I also used a good self-etching primer on everything. I'm glad everyone likes it. I must say I'm proud of the job I did. I just got it running right and now it's starting to get cold here in Wisconsin, so I probably won't be doing much riding until springtime. Oh well. I guess that means it's time to start on another project.
