A new set of tires is on the list of things to do before riding. Those have been sitting since 1991 I think.

Is that a right side fork lower I see on the left side? Bike looks pretty cool. Here is a phrase you will never hear. "Sorry I hit you. I didn't see or hear you coming"

It looks like a left side lower put on the right side.
:P Kinda looks like they need to be reversed. Sould'nt the caliper be behind the fork when rolling forward?

After looking again.. I guess that's the only way to mount the fender.
Great job on the engine. Did you sand it down first? What kind of paint did you use?

77 650 B1 is born like that - single caliper mounted in front of the fork leg. 78 B2 has single caliper mounted behind the front leg, rest of the 650s except for the H (CSR) models have twin calipers mounted behind the fork legs.

77 KZ 650 B1, 82 GPz 1100 B2.

It's my understanding that the 900 forks are like that too. The 76 900 LTD came with the calipers mounted behind the forks. This was OK because the front fender was a shortie and didn't use the lower brace. But this also caused a little problem bleeding because of the position of the bleeder. It was tilted down and the air was reluctant to come out. I decided I wanted a full painted fender on mine so I went to a 650 SR fender. I reversed the forks so I had the fender boss pointing to the back for the fender brace. This also put my calipers to the front of the fork which positions the bleeders in a up position. I believe the 900LTD suppliment book mentions this.

And I think that Tangelo color is cool!

I washed the engine with oven cleaner, gave it a real good rinse, let it dry in the sun, and then painted it with Plasticoat Engine Enamel. I glad everyone likes the paint. I agonized for about 6 months over what color I was going to use. Thanks for all the feedback! I'll get more pictures when I get all the parts on it.

Great job!! Thought about painting my lowers and after seeing yours I just may. Can't wait to see the finished project. Damn you got that for $50 less than I paid for my 78.
