Z1 tail

I know the Z1 tail will fit the '77 KZ; How is the fit around the square tail light? What's really the difference in the 2 tails?

The tail is squared on the KZ's. I doubt the Z1 would fit.

Thanks Steve. The tail on my '82 KZ is square but it's not on the '77 KZ1000. The guy from Z1parts said it will fit and another guy did as well. They look similar but there's is a slight difference and not sure what it is. Here's a '77 KZ1000 (the blue and red) and a green '78 with the Z1 style tail.

I know it will bolt on but it won't look right.

The 73 to 75 tail is round on the back and fits the 73 to 75 round tail light.
The 76 and later tail is more flat on the back and fits the rectangular tail light.

Here is my 77 kz900 with the round z1 tail light. It is not perfect but I like it.

I like the look of the 4 into 4 exhaust on the red ' 77 KZ-1000. Thanks for posting the pic.
