Howdy All. I think I saw a post about this but could not find it during a search. Need to paint the side covers of my KZ1000J2. Tried to remove one of the emblems, but the plastic stud snapped off (was being as gentle as possible). Not sure how to remove the small fastener without destroying those studs Ideas???. I suppose I could glue the emblems back on. What is the best adhesive to use? Thanks.

Just use some double sided number plate tape.

The best way I have found is to use a Dremel tool to very carefully cut the little fasteners off the plastic studs. Then just use new fasteners when you re-install the emblems. I had no problem finding new fasteners. Those little 3mm lock nuts for my KZ650 are part number 92018-005. I believe you can still buy them new, but if not they are readily available on eBay. Ed

I use silicon. I try to mask them before painting now.

My emblems are metal, so I cut threads on the posts & used plastic lock nuts so that they can be removed later with a wrench. I also added dabs of 100% silicone sealant to the nuts to hold them in place as a just in case. credit to skyman for the thread cutting idea.
