'81 GPz gauge disassembly, how bad is it?

I've been working on my gpz, getting it ready for riding season.
I'm down to doing some of the fiddly little stuff, the current issue that bothers me is dirt and water spots behind the lens on the spedo and tach.
I know its not a huge deal and leaving it would be the easy thing to do.

What am I looking at if I decide to tear into them, am I just risking breaking some impossible to find fastener or seal?

I'd like input from folks who've had them apart.

Nice! That will help as long as our gauges are built the same, it said something in the my manual about making sure to keep the gauges facing up if removed because they were liquid filled and if left upside down for very long it would ruin them.
Any idea there?

That's news to me. Maybe not stored that way. Pics?

I'm wrong, Not fluid filled, not sure where I picked that up.
All is says is not to leave them on their sides or upside down for any length of time.

So the whole deal looks a little tedious, but doable.
I just wish I could leave it but I think it will drive me crazy.

I'm trying real hard to leave things alone, but I'm starting to struggle with that.

I'll have to see how dim it is at night, I've only ridden in the dark for a block or so.
My headlight was screwed up and I had to turn around, It was a broken connector and is now fixed.
