Totally trivial

Theres a rubber plug on the top of the headlight bucket that seems to be common to dozens of 70s era kaws. What the hell? Why drill a hole in the top of the headilight bucket just to put a rubber plug in the hole just to make me have to find and purchase one 40 years later?

Yes, Stanley made them. Kawasaki H1 & H2 had them. And Honda's had the same. Just mass production of a Stanley headlight bucket.
I found one NOS about 4 years ago. Gonna look nice in my headlight bucket painted pearl white, one of these years.

Well thanks boys. Up until now that was the only part Id found on the whole bike that if a 10 year old asked me I couldnt explain to him why it was needed to carry 1 or 2 people quickly and safely down the road.

Since the High beam indicator light was not put in the bucket on Us models, Kawasaki just put the rubber plug in. I think I read the lights were used on the Japan market builds. I think I got one from Z1 Enterprises.

The one on my Honda 350 was red. If it was blue it would be cool. I have a Vetter headlight can on mine now. That's all I had after the wreck. I like it, easy to change bulbs.

Thanks Patton...I was going to post this also. My Z2A has the speed warning light in place of the rubber bung.

Does it tell you when you"re going too fast? I'd let the bulb burn out and it probably would with me driving. :lol:

Damn. I found an NOS rubber plug but now I want a light to hook up to something, anything.

My chrome headlight bucket has the hole with a little light fitting, in it not connected to anything, I assumed it either came from another bike that way or someone just used it to fill the hole.

You could put a little light in there and connect it to your head light so you can tell if your lights are on when it's dark

Maybe wire in a relay so it will so it will come on when the bulb burns out.
