Repro Gas Cap on ebay

Anyone using one of these repro gas caps? If so, has anyone tried to swap in their old key cylinder? The ad suggests the caps are exact reproductions, but wondering how exact.

I did not buy one off eBay, I did buy one that has a gas gauge in it. I wasted a bunch of time swapping the "cylinders" just to find out they are not keyed. The OEM not the replacement. You can open them with a screw drive if it fits and turns. Mine is a 77 KZ1000.

Mercy sakes alive! Just opened the cap with my Suzuki key. No tumblers in the cylinder.

Thanks for the tip!

I like it like that. I don't like carrying an extra key just to open my replacement gas cap.

A smart gas thief would just take the hose off the carb anyway.

I had one next door. I'd lock the bike in the shed and got a locking cap for the truck. I put the old non locking one on my auxelery tank. It was about 1/4 full of puke gas. I saw him on the side of the road the next day trying to start his car. My spare tank read empty. The pick up inside was cracked and I didn't want to drop the tank and siphon the gas. I guess I can now.

Pulled the trigger and bought the ebay cap. Ad states..."direct reproduction of Kawasaki part #51048-1018", however it's not a perfect match by any means. Good enough for my project, but surprised it's not a closer copy based on the ad. Oh well.
