...Does anyone know a good color match to the blue/black stripe on a 1982 GPz 750?

Sorry no, but when I got graphics for my 81 550 the 'blue' looked too dark, I actually called the company, (image works uk)who do lots of bike graphics and they assured me it was correct, when fitted it looks fine. So maybe a bit darker than you think.

ps don't pay any attention to my avatar pic, that is 'Kenny lawson' with ELR stripe blue. there is a pic of my red 81 here somewhere.

...That's funny. I bought some stripes from IW, UK also. Don't know why, but they were way out of scale. That's why they're getting painted on. Just thought someone here might have painted theirs and was curious as to what they used. Guess I'll just get the chip books out and see what I can see. Thanks!

Any auto paint store worth dealing with will have someone that can match the color off a sample. I've bought paint several times this way although you are tied in to buying some mixable quantity that will be more than you need.

Looking closer, it seems the IW graphics I have on my' 82 750 R1, the blue is lighter than on the GPz550, but darker than the ELR. Computer screens are rubbish for looking at colours I know, but from here the 750 stripe blue looks pretty close to the blue colour used on our usernames font.

(GPz trivia, the 81 and 82 1100 B models graphics changed, the blue and silver 'sandwich' turning upside down, so the 82 had silver on top)

I am reasonably pleased with these matches...note all are Dupli-Color codes. These will work for the 1981/1982 GPz1100 and the 1982 GPz750. The 1981 GPz550 has, instead of the dark blue [as in the 750/1100 tank/tail stripe,] the stripe replaced with black (this was stock in North America...can't speak for the Euro editions).

Silver = TY 01602 Lunar Mist Met 1C8 Toyota

Blue = NG CC 409 Patriot Blue WB7 Chrysler

Red = NG FM 306 Cardinal Red 21, EP, SQ, E4, EA Ford

...Lol! Yeh, they had to do something to tell them apart.

...I first noticed that when I bought my 1100. The person I purchased it from had another '81 and an '82 right next to it.

...Cool! Just what I was looking for. Did some searching around, to no avail. Then I thought to myself, hey stupid, use the color off the over-sized stripes you paid for that are useless! Now why didn't I think of that sooner. I'd still need to get the stripe matched, so your info saves me a step. Thanks, I appreciate it. Hope I can return the favor one day. :)
