520 sprockets for kz650 was created by q-base
Does anyone know where it is possible to buy 520 sprockets for a kz650? For some strange reason I am unable to find them anywhere. Perhaps if someone knows newer/other models that fit the same sprockets, which it perhaps would be easier to find 520 sprockets for, then that would also be a huge help.

you're probably gonna have to go the custom sprocket route. Im planning on that when I switch my kz750 twin to 520. pretty much the only people using 520 are racers and since not many people race these bikes there are no options beyond custom. If you do find something post it here because i have been looking for an easy solution

Yes you can, you just have to find the correct sprockets to use, I'll look into my research but I have off the shelf 520 sprockets for my 82 GPZ 750 R1, same engine basically as your 650. My chain is an EK with 9000 lb tensile strength, far better than the heavy old 630 it came from the factory with...   I'll see if i can find the sprocket info, if not I'll post the sprocket part numbers.
Ok I dug out the sprockets and chain, the sprockets are front, JTF512-17 www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/sprocket/JTF512/          and the rear is a JTR1478-42, www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/sprocket/JTR1478/       you can get these in different sizes depending on the gearing you want to run.

You can see the sprocket dimensions at the top of each link, these are the important parts to get right ....

Sprocket chart,     www.jtsprockets.com/fileadmin/files/JT%2...n%20Guide%202018.pdf

Use this to find the specs or part number for your stock sprockets then cross reference them to find sprockets you want, its time consuming but must be done correctly to make sure everything lines up correctly. Once you find the part numbers for your stock 630 sprockets, search for them on JT's site, at the top of each sprocket page will be the dimensions  of each sprocket, its the spline count and centre thickness that needs to be the same on the front, and the rear its just the bolt pattern.... My chain is a EK 520MVXZ2
Hope this helps....

Wow thanks a lot! This is really helpful and exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for a 17t front, so that will be a direct replacement, I just have to check the measurements up against the rear to see if that fits as well.

No worries, Glad I could help. Just remember to take the time to cross reference the sprockets with the little size charts at the top of the page, you also need to understand tooth counts from the 630 sprockets is totally different to the 520, I did this research quite a while ago so make sure you are getting the correct sprockets, I didn't write anything down.  There are sprocket size calculators/ converters online...
Just a note, my friend in the UK races his 750R1 with a high comp 810 kit and uses 520 sprockets and chain, he was the one that convinced me to junk the heavy old 630 and assured me there were plenty of really strong 520 chains, actually I now know a guy that uses 520 chain and sprockets on his GSXR1000 race bike..
