Hey guys, I was just about to start rebuilding my forks and ran into ran issue. I went to loosen the bottom Allen bolts and this is what I found. Sorry for the bad pictures ill try and get better ones when I remove the forks from the bike.

You may just need to file flats into the side and use and open end wrench.

Agreed. Looks like somebody installed hex bolts in place of the allen bolts. The bottom allen bolts should be installed with aluminum gaskets. I forget what the manual specifies, but I put a high temp thread sealant on the threads to act as a thread locker.
Just an FYI. There's a pdf manual available for the 81 KZ650.

I'm now thinking someone stripped or drilled the Allen head out and rigged these in vs replacing the Allens.... Great
