Elr tank on J chassis was created by Kramninerlum
Hi guys, i am new. I have a 75 Z-1 and a 81 KZ1000J. I want to make the J into an Eddie Lawson Replica replica. I have tank, and fairing but the tank does not want to slip on to the frame of my J. It looks like the tank is narrower where it fits onto the rubber bumpers. I am thinking of cutting off the bumper studs halfway to make the tank fit. Anybody else done this? The guy i got it from built up the motor, it has RS36 carbs and is a lot of fun to drive! If the tank doesnt fit, i will just paint the J bodywork and male an earlier ELR bike...

Are you sure the tank you got is an ELR tank? They are rare and really pricey. You sure it's not a GPZ750 or GPZ550 tank. They look like ELR tanks but smaller.

I have a GPZ and a KZ1100 tank, both look the same. I am sure they are bigger than a 750 tank. I wanted the ELR look, and that is what i am going to use, not sure if 5hey are exact, but i think either is close.

Does the GPZ tank have the fuel level and EFI stuff on the bottom?

Both tanks have a petcock and an opening for the fuel guage. No EFI on ELR right? :-) is the ELR tank a specific tank? ...i did not think so...

That red tank doesn't look like an ELR tan, it looks like a GPZ tank.. And you are correct the ELR tank did not have fuel injection but the GPZ1100 was EFI so if that tank came from a GPZ1100 is should have the EFI stuff on it. Now since the tank is to narrow to fit on the J frame and it doesnt have the EFI stuff then I'm thinking you have a 1982 GPZ750 tank. It looks just like the 1100 tank but slightly smaller. Put up a pic of the rear tank mount.

Upon closer inspection the redtank does have another fitting. The tanks seem to be the same length as the J tank...
