Fork Air Fittings? was created by hookemdevils22
Has anyone found air fittings for the forks? Both valves are broken on my '80 750H project. The fork cap thread M10-1.25 with an o-ring, but I can't find any Shrader valve replacement online. If not, are there recommended fork springs to ditch the air assist system? I'm completely redoing the bike and the forks are apart, so new springs certainly are an option.

Interesting. I always thought they were a standard Schrader valve.

Yes, you can run without the air. A set of Progressive Suspension springs and the proper spacer at the top will really improve the front end. Racetech and Sonic also make good replacement springs. Any of them will be better than 30+ year old factory springs. If Racetech also makes cartridge emulators for your model, they will really make a huge difference, though they are a bit pricey.

You know, I didn't check if it was NPT or SAE because I assumed it was metric, and it has an o-ring. I'll double-check that.
EDIT: I should clarify that I checked the thread size in the fork cap, which an M10-1.25 bolt fit into. I assume the valve side is the standard 5/16"-32.

And sorry for putting this in the wrong section - I had two tabs open, one in Projects and one in Chassis.

I usually run heavier springs and then the air is not really needed, so you could just cap them off.

Exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you all!

Though I swear the air fittings were 10-1.25 thread... I'll need to check that prior to purchasing the allen set screws.
