I had same problem with 1983 KZ 550 F Spectre. I think it has the same single front disk brake setup as the A3. I just wanted a front brake, didn't have to be original. I found USA Motorcycle Inc on Ebay. They sell new master brake cylinders for 7/8" bars and vintage bikes. They had several that would work, I choose the least expensive yet decent looking master they had for a KZ type bike. Also this one is for a single disk setup, the double caliper masters would have a bigger flow rate (i.e., barely move handle to operate a single disk). According to the many positive reviews I think this is just going to be the ticket for me. Maybe you too.

The guys that bought the ebay MC's...how have your experiences gone? I have one that looks really similar to yours I bought a few years back for my 550. There is a small adjustment screw on mine that allows the handle to contact the piston at different positions. WELL...to get a good stop, I had to have the screw threaded in pretty far...problem was it wouldn't completely release when the lever wasn't being pulled. I adjusted it so that it would work...but after a few years it has degraded and now all my front brake is really good for is coming to a nice, lazy stop. I can probably slow down quicker engine braking...

what little i've been able to ride mine (<10miles) it feels fine, I bought the full metal MC (looks very similar to the stock one but a bit smaller).

Hi again... my MC just took a crap. All the links in the earlier part of the thread aren't available on ebay anymore. Could you maybe give me a photo or model number for the one you bought? If it's the same one I got, I musta got a lemon or something.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI think I got this one...

If the piston diameter is larger than my stock, will this cause better or worse braking performance?

It will bite more..more performance is relative on how undefined it..

Ex brembo makes sport bike upgrades to 19x 18 or 19 x 20..

19 being the piston size and 18/20 being the distance the lever travels.. Bigger piston means more area on the mc, so that translates into more distance traveled by the piston at caliper. This could be shorter lever pulls or a more abrupt initial brake bite..I can explain the physics more or u can take my word for it:)

It won't make it worst as far as stopping distance or anything lik that..it should def feel a lot different..
