That looks VERY similar to the one a local shop carries, I wasn't too impress with the mounting bracket with that one, the plastic mounting clamp looks like something a huffy from 15 yrs ago would have. I was also told it wasn't rebuildable and that it "should" last a couple of years.

If the clamp is plastic, then I'd pass on it too, but my catalog says "alloy body".

I've seen used Brembo stuff on Ebay, they come on Ducati Monster 620 w/single disc.

Just a quick update, it looks like the master cylinder i bought off ebay is going to work. The stock brake hose bolted right up to it, bled it and i have front brakes!

I ended up with the black one with 12.7mm piston.

Also fired it up again tonight and let it run for a bit, I kept having issues with it not wanting to take ANY throttle. This time i just let it run for a while and it started taking throttle at half choke, after running a bit longer i dropped the choke off and it winds right up. I guess its just VERY cold blooded. Still need to pull the carbs back off and set the floats (the correct way, clear tube) then its tires and installing the new rear (harley sportster) shocks and it should be ready to ride.

this one:

The only modding required is going to be the stop light switch.

I do have a SINGLE caliper front though, if you have the double i'm pretty kaw still makes rebuild kits.

The one i posted most closely matches the specs of the stock MC, 12.7mm piston. The grey one is for a dual caliper setup. I havent gotten around to messing with the brakelight switch yet.

Well this sucks! Mine went out last week (leaking fluid, no pressure, etc.) and now I can't get a rebuild kit for it! :(

So who can I get to e-mail some of these kit manufacturers and stir up some demand for a kit?

Whatever ya'll do, don't buy this one. Total piece of junk! Couldn't even get it to hold fluid. Also beware it comes in different colors. The brake light switch they sent with it didn't even fit.

The whole reason I looked up this thread was to figure out what to get to replace it. Didn't want to buy another piece of junk. I settled on this one.

New MC

Sold by the same guy that you bought yours from lxer, and it had good reviews and looks good on clubman bars, which is what I've got.

1981 KZ550 LTD stock for now, but soon to be a cafe racer.

Here's a NOS unit (part #43015-1051) that just came up on eBay for $100 "Buy It Now." Sounds like a bargain!
