Did you add distilled water? I didn't watch the entire video or listen carefully. I had been using wet cell batteries from walmart, but the fluid level was difficult to see. almost impossible as the plastic was too opaque. My last two batteries have been the Scorpion AGM from batterystuff.com. The first one last exactly 2 yrs. my current one is now exactly 2 yrs old, but I now connect a smart charger most of the time, hoping that will keep it fresh & last longer.

They only had a gallon of distilled water. I have a 1/2 gal. in the shed but the cheap plastic is coming apart and had bugs in it. The water bottle works so well I'll keep it. I plan on getting a AGM battery next month unless this one keeps working. I did the video to show how it can be done. Next I'll run the bike and see if the meter keeps jumping around like it did before. I like the Z1 frame because the battery was right on top and easy to get to on the bike. They buried it on the later models and the battery stuck out like a sore thumb. That's why I went with the larger side covers. I had some shafty covers but they came off in the wind. Never liked the screws but they stay put while I ride the piss out of it. :woohoo:

The last time I had a wet cell, we had a long hot spring-summer-fall w severe drought several years ago. The motorcycle started running poorly at high speeds in Sept that year >> the electrolyte was low. Re-filled it w distilled water & it lasted thru the following Summer at which time I got a Scorpion AGM.

Well this one's failing just like the last ones. There was a thread where one of our members was going to order a AGM battery for $48.95 delivered. Is this the one?

That's it. They say in the ad the prices have come down. One year warranty. I'll order one in a day or two. B)

Batteries can fail in many ways. They can go slowly, short inside while riding causing bad running issues or a hard fail like this one.

0 volts at startup and 8 volts running. Was 100 miles from home. The one I have now is the fourth one I got from High Tech Battery Solutions. The last one was just under 1 year old and covered. Not so with this one. ALL MADE IN CHINA. The AGM I just bought is listed as made in Asia so I might be in the same boat. We'll see.

Glad I ordered when I did.

Just can't buy anything that lasts anymore.
