That they are. I bought the 2 I found on UK eBay that would ship stateside. The one pictured cost me $165 shipped. It was only the Speedo and it didn't have the silver band holding the bezel on but it sat on a dealer shelf for decades supposedly. Then I bought a complete cluster for $125 shipped for spares.

My "spares" have the tach with a faceplate screw popped out and rolling around. My spare speedo has a dead fly in the faceplate rolling around. LOL.

Bouncing meter needles is all too common with the cable operated speedo's and tach's. I thought that's what this thread was about when I saw the title. I'm not sure how the electrical gauges work but on the mechanical gauges the needle moves in response to magnetic forces generated by rotation of a metal dome piece in the mechanism guts. A damper smooths out the needle movement however when the damper falters, needle oscillation often occurs.

On my 750 both the tach and speedo needles oscillate from time to time. I'm not to concern with the speedo, although it's annoying, but the tach needs to be accurate when running the bike up to redline. I got lucky and found a NOS tach for a good price but no love on a new (reasonably priced) speedo.

Thanks,

I'm going to give it a good going over this weekend. I'll let you know what I find.

SmokeyOwl, That sounds like the Speedo I took off.

As an aside, it looks like it's easier to find Z1100B (GPz1100) clusters and it looks like they should go right on or be pretty easy to adapt if you get the mounting bracket. You'll get a voltage meter to boot which shouldn't be hard to wire.

I was thinking of getting some delrin and turning it to a facsimile of the damper contours with just enough room to put a layer of silicon wrap under it.

Anyone still need a set of 92075-1315 meter dampers?

Did you find some or are you clearing out your stash?

I'll take 'em unless someone else has a more urgent need for them.

Dang, looks like I missed it. Any tips on reconditioning these rings? Mine are ok....ish....but I'd like to get them in better condition. Right now I just have a couple rubber washers under the rear screw to keep things a bit tighter.

You can have them. I have a decent pair right now... These would just be reserve.

If you can for the sake of comparison, post a pic that shows the condition of the meter damper(s) you have...

Condition shown is typical of the set I may part with:

Here's a pic of the inside, it looks like it's pitting on the inside.

But when I have everything installed, the meters are ridiculously loose...bouncing all over the place when riding.

My guess it's a combination of the big rings and the smaller rubber spacer/washer by the bolt degrading. Right now all I figured I can do was put some rubber washers under the chrome metal washer to space out the bolt and tighten everything up.
