Yes I did cheap out, what set would you recommend? I did use a brass dremel attachment to clean off any old residue/material off of the face of the head where the port mounts. I think today I will try to make a vesrah gasket out of the paper sheet I purchased and see if that solves anything.

I tried a cheap set and had the same issue, even making gaskets from paper and RTV. I'd bite the bullet on OEM, it'll probably be 130ish for four after shipping. 16065-1132 is the part number.

Well, I made the paper gaskets, used a hole punch, and some of the wife’s craft supplies to cut a perfect hole in the center. Installed them and they seem to have solved my issue. It no longer reacts to carburetor cleaner being sprayed at it while it is running. time will tell
if it acts up again.
If I have anymore issues out of the boots you Then I will definitely buy some new OEM ones off Partzilla. Looks like $136 shipped and taxed to my house.

Welp, let it be known to all other users here that the carb holders are already leaking. It has once again developed an air leak which makes it want to rev to 4.5k RPM when warm. I just went ahead and ordered the OE Kawasaki carb holders off Partzilla. Note to anyone else, don’t order the cheap carb holders!

I'm using aftermarket boots from Wemoto, Tourmax etc on all my bikes with no issues.
What you need to do is put a bead of VTech rtv on the boot or head mating surface ( no paper gaskets it's a waste of time ) .
Fit the boot but only lightly seat it with the bolts barely more than finger tight to evenly squeeze out the excess.
Leave it overnight to cure and then nip them up and peel off the excess inside and out before refitting the carbs.
Never had any leaks when doing that, not even on the Drouin Supercharged 1000A and if that don't make them leak after 14 years of boost pressure nothing will.

Alright Zed, I’ll bite. Since partzilla still has not shipped my order for the 4 boots, I figure it won’t make anything worse to try it out. I’m past the Amazon return window anyway. Do you think some of the red permatex RTV would work? I have a tube lying around from sealing up the crankcase on a chainsaw motor and it is still holding up good. I may try it out tomorrow as well as resealing up 2 of the cam caps that are leaking.

I don't use the Permatex but if it's the same type of stuff as the Vtech RTV that sets to a firmish soft rubber consistancy then i can't see why not.
The Vtech i use is gasket maker and rated 600 degrees and i see the permatex 81160 would be the equivalent but at four times the cost of the Vtech here in the UK.

Welp, pulled the carbs off today, pulled the paper gaskets off and cleaned the surface of both sides so they were absolutely clean. I didn’t end up using the red high temp RTV that I said I would, I used some of the spray copper gasket that I bought for the head gasket. I did it at 6pm today so I probably won’t take it to work tomorrow morning just to give it all the chance it can to cure and set up properly. I’ll let everyone know if the copper gasket spray works. In the mean time partzilla has STILL not shipped the OEM Kawasaki carb holders they said they had in stock when I ordered them on May 30th! I may call tomorrow and see what’s going on with that.

That did not work at all, it’s worse than what I started with. It won’t run without the choke and some throttle, once the choke is taken off it immediately just dies. I can legitimately feel the air sucking with my finger next to the boot on cylinder 1. I guess tomorrow I will pull the boots again and put the high temp gasket maker that I said before.
Moral of the story, don’t use copper spray gasket on the intake boots. Live and learn I guess.

...moral of the story, you gotta pay to play.

Pony up for the real genuine OEM parts.  They cost more, but save you headaches down the road.

Yep, so true Nessism. I contacted partzilla and it was an issue in their system. My parts shipped yesterday but I never got an email with the tracking number. Should be here on Wednesday. I guess I’ll be driving to work next week.   supposed to be nice and sunny next week too.
