Man....I have to be honest.  After reading all of that, I wonder if I should even invest the time and money to rebuild these VM26's or just move to something else like VM28's?   I bought the intake boots on both sides of the airbox already for these VM26's (about $250 for all), but they also fit the VM28's which seem to be way more tunable and produce better power.  Thoughts on that?   Your article actually scared me off a  bit on the VM26's     Am I overreacting?

VM26's are fine.  It's the pump on that version of carbs that's the problematic part.  And most VM28's have a pump, so there is that.

You can delete and blank off the sensor circuit ( triangular diaphragm ) on these VM26's and they will behave like normal 26's with the advantage of the accelerator pump.

You can delete and blank off the sensor circuit ( triangular diaphragm ) on these VM26's and they will behave like normal 26's with the advantage of the accelerator pump.

In the thread that I linked earlier, it shows how to disable the 2nd diaphragm.
