19 mm Wrench - What bike has this in the toolkit ?

Hello All,
This came in my Z1-R tool kit -



I don't think it belongs to that bike, it is not marked with any manufacturer details - just MADE IN JAPAN.

Other side has no markings at all.

Can anyone tell me what it might belong to please?? :blink:

My750 turbo had one in the tool kit ...Guessing it is for axle bolt?

I used that to take the rear axle bolt on my 78 kz1000, I stuck a long pipe in the handle to get leverage .

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

The tool kit should also come with a piece that slips on the end of the wrench to act as a handle extension , for better leverage

In the perhaps similar Z1 toolkit, #13 extension sleeve adds leverage to #12 rear axle nut.





Don't remember whether or not #13 also fits over #16 shock pre-load adjustment tool. :unsure:

Rear axle nuts on the big kzs and h2 are 27mm; so if thats what it is it's a litttle bike. My 550 is larger than 22 IIRC. So no idea

my bikes; 80kz1000(project), 77 gl1000, 74 h2 (project)

The tool is probably extraneous to the kit. From referencing the 1980 D3 owner tools diagram at Partzilla & an eebbaayy Z1R tool kit, I think the kit should have a 27mm box end wrench (which is probably for the Rr axle nut). From the wheel bearing sizes, the front axle nut wrench is probably bigger than 19mm. ???

Interesting reference as to which side the rear axle nut is placed.
Some put it on the right side.
Others put it on the left side.

Rear axle nut on muffler side --
May allow removal of the axle without interference by the muffler.

Rear axle nut on non-muffler side --
May disallow removal of the axle unless muffler is moved out of the way.

Rear axle nut on right-hand (starboard) side --
Forward wheel rotation encourages loosening of the nut.

Rear axle nut on left-hand (port) side --
Forward wheel rotation encourages tightening of the nut.

In any event, would suggest using a hitch-clip pin to secure the axle castle-nut, instead of the more common skin-slicing rag-grabbing cotter pin aka cotter key.
