Links to a few pics of the seat conversion. Seat is just "resting" in place in these photo's. I have to finish cutting a few brackets and shorten frame, then fab mounts for the seat. Will post more pics as work moves along.

Thanks. I was planning on doing my 77 KZ650 over the winter, but this 550 sort of just developed, now I'll have two projects going on over the next few months. I've had this KZ550 the longest and I just can't stay away from it. Already has GpZ dual disc front on it, and current planning is GpZ head/cams/carbs, an old V&H 4into1 megaphone, viper fairing & front fender painted to match..... god knows what else I'll come up with when the snow starts to fly. At least I finally convinced the neighbor to let me store a few of the bikes in her garage, so I should be able to have both projects goin at once!

Well, it will get the seat pad and tail light soon. I don't think I could make it very far either without some kind of pad

Awesome! I'm doing a similar project, green too!

If you do the Gpz motor parts, I suggest a Gpz oilpan so you can hook up an oil cooler. That extra power will need extra cooling.

I forgot to mention that in the above list, GpZ oil pan already bolted on, have the cooler all ready to mount up. The 77 KZ650 is going to be yellow, as soon as I have it moved in to this garage I'll start getting some pics of that project posted here.

Made some slight progress.... cut frame and some brackets, threw the seat pad on and propped it up in position (almost), soon will be turning my friend the welder loose on it to make the seat brackets and reinstall the battery box and electronics...
