Wookie, that peg setup is cool !  The heel guards scream function over form, maybe you can make some out of similar thickness aluminum plate that have a little more appeal. (Unfortunately you probably can't do that on your new lathe)  I like your wheel assembly fixture, looks easier than the  "put  your foot under the tire and try to line up the axle" method.

I'm not sure about the heal guards currently as they are "only a mother could love" ugly

If they're ugly and they work, they're not ugly. :)

This is a fantastic project! I really appreciate the pics.

I am unsure which way to go yet, the "right" one would be difficult to replicate as it has a pronounced curve around the master cylinder and I have to ask myself "how much extra work do I want to create" I think once they are anodised black they will kind of slink back into the shadows

So I have been finishing up the foot controls this weekend, sorted the gearshift (I was going to buy a GPZ part but when I looked at it, it appears it's just a pice of flat steel welded to the end of a normal lever so that's what I did) needed a few bushings and spacers to get it working correctly (on the Yamaha they came from the shift rod runs behind the lever and frame spar) I just couldn't live with those ugly heal guards so I "bit the bullet" and made alternatives which I like a lot more (I could have just junked them but they are there for a reason) I just need to make a couple of spacers for the brake pedal and master cyl

Wookie - those new heel guards look much better, they match the shape of the pedal brackets.  Nice work.

Heel guards look lighter, too. Now if only you had some sheet titanium in the shop.

Have wrapped up the foot controls today, spacers for the brake pedal and rear reservoir. This has tucked in nicely behind the sidepanel but I had to go through the brace with the hose. I have welded a steel tube through to maintain strength and made an ally joining piece for the hose. Now onto the exhaust
