Got offered this today, 78 KZ1000, hasn't been run in a few years but looks pretty clean, supposedly mostly stock. Was there a 4 in 1 header option for the 10000s back then? I thought I'd read that somewhere. Anyway, guy wants 1500 for it, it's a couple states away so probably will be around 300 to 350 Uship. Will be into it for under 2 Gs. Also, I thought duel disks came standard on the KZ1000. Also thought they all had step seats. Trying to figure out how stock this is.

Nice looking bike. As far as stock equipment, the 4 into 1 pipe is not stock and the pod air filters are not stock. Ed

what about the wheels and seat? Didn't know spokes were available or flat seat.

650ed is correct. Flat seat, higher handlebars, single front disk with caliper behind the forks with spoked wheels and the tank stripes makes it a 78.
Different stripes and front caliper in front of the forks is a '77. looks great...
Now to go home to check my garage......

You may want to check out the video at the link below. It's a nice stock 1978 KZ1000 the same color as yours. Ed

Was just sitting here kind of thinking ... Not a lot of value in the 1000s and since I'm not a fan of that fire engine red, it almost might be fun to make a 75 Z1 clone out of it. I wonder if I'd get beat up if I ever took that to a classic Kaw meet.
