KZ440 Bobber build, New member

Hello KZ members

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Stephen, I am currently starting my own custom fabrication shop and going to school full time utilizing my Gi bill, almost done with my third associates then going to WSU for my BA in business management.

I always wanted to build a bobber and when my buddy offered me a free 81 kz440LTD I couldn't say no, I was initially gonna build it into a cafe racer like our other bikes, we have built but I felt like something different this time and love the look.

So far ive used scraps I had laying around my shop. I built Custom Z-Bars, Stepped brass handle bar bushings, Knurled brass toe peg for shifter, Milled my upper triple tree to accept stepped brass bushings, bent the tubes for my hardtail, and bought my Frisco mount sportster tank.

Things to do:
(Pick up donor kz650 for parts)
KZ650 rear disk conversion
Belt to chain conversion
rebuild motor (because i want to start fresh)
Mill brass foot pegs
make misc mounts
Figure out how i want to mount my 1970 Honda head lamp
Simplifie wiring
build false oil can (hide wiring/relays, mount ignition, Hi/lo switch)
SS braided brake lines
Build shifter/Linkage
Build rear foot brake lever/mount
Powder coat wheels red
Whitewall tires
Paint/Powder coat frame etc.


have alot left to do but making progress when I'm not working on my customers projects or homework lol, will try and keep this thread updated as i make progress. thanks for checking it out and I look forward to learning alot on this forum.

Simplified wiring diagrams. KZR topic by loudhvx. bare bones for mattylight.
see pages 11-21. some of the diagrams are no longer there (pgs. 1-10). But from pg 11-on many are still available.

thanks, that'll help a lot when i get around to the wiring, plans are keyed ignition with Start/Run/Off Hi/low beams and a brake light it'll definitely be bare.

Nice cool to find a local, maybe when I get it done we can go on a ride, bike got pushed to the back burner for a few got a 78 SOHC CB750 in the shop building into a cafe/scrambler.

Scrambler sounds cool. I wanna do one of those in a future.
