I double checked, my engine timing is correct. Also here is a before photo.

I have taken photos along the way, I’m just waiting till I’m done to post it all.

Uggg..... back to square one. For some reason it’s not starting. No more pops. And it seems like something is wrong with the electrical. Like the coils are registering about 10.xx volts. Maybe my wiring is not secure.

Thanks!

I guess maybe I’ll go ahead and check the carbs pilot jets.

Would it be best to stay with the #62? I assume thats the idle jet. I know of corse I need to go up on the main jet. Seeing as I have a #125 I was thinking of going to #130-#135. Does that sound right to y’all?

Thanks!

Ten volts is not enough. Your battery may be shot. Try recharging it, then do a load test, or take it to a battery shop for a load test. Some auto parts stores will do it for free.

Installing jets with bigger numbers will make the mixture richer. Going from 125 to 145 is a pretty big jump. Have you found any discussion threads for bikes set up like yours? If somebody else has a successful setup, that could be a good place to start.

Before getting into the jets, it would be a good idea to check the service fuel level in each carb. The clear tube method is the most reliable way to do that. It is explained in the service manual as well as in the article database on this site. The fuel level is very important to proper carb tuning and function. Did you check that the carbs had been bench synchronized before installation? Have you messed with the synchronization screws? If you did not check, or if you did mess with those screws, it might be a good idea to pull the carbs off and reset them, so you will know that they are at least close.
All of this other stuff really needs to be sorted out before diving into the jets, or you may end up trying to compensate for some other problem through jetting, and end up really frustrated.

A quick peek at the parts diagram at Partzilla suggests that those carbs came from the factory thusly---

Pilot jet - #35
Primary main jet - #65
Secondary main jet - #85, 88, 90, 92, or 95.

Do you know if your carbs were set up with aftermarket jets, or with oem? Some aftermarket jet manufacturers use a proprietary numbering system that is not readily comparable to the carb manufacturere's numbering system.

So I know I don’t know much about this stuff so y’all help me out.:)

Or a step be step process would work two

So my battery is fully charged at 13.xx. So I’m good there. I got it started a few minutes ago. It idles roughly. I can give it gas but as soon as I let off the throttle and let the rpms go down the bike stalls. The exhaust is kinda white and smells like gas. When I take off the pod filters there is an excessive amount of gas in the pod. Either its the choke or maybe I could put the #90 jets in to see if that does it. Maybe from starting the bike on the kickstand idk.

I was about to bench sync them but they seem to already have ben done. I did the old put a soft drill bit in the #2 carb and then with the same size drill bit test the rest for drag. Kinda like checking valve clearances.

And I have timed the 1-4 coils but the advanced timing rotor only has the( t| f| 1-4 ||) on one side and the other side just has a T | mark on it. There doesn’t seem to be a 2-3 mark. So I gues I haven’t timeid the 2-3. I double checked the timing on the camchain by removing the spark plug to see if the valves were making contact with the piston and it’s not.

Would this explain why it’s having trouble starting, running and reving?

Lol I think I found out why it’s so freaking hard to start and why there is excessive gas in the pod on carb #1. And why every once in a while it would back fire though carb #1. I checked the compression in cylinder #1 and almost all of it is going out #1. Meaning I took the plug out and used compressed air. My guess is maybe I put the valve shims in wrong or something. Cuz I’m pretty sure the valve isn’t bent. I had a professional do my valves. So I guess I’ll need to take the cover and cams off to see what’s up. I really hope I don’t have to take the head off cuz I don’t want to pay the money for a new gasket right now.

Thanks!

I just checked and it would seem I accidentally put the wrong shim in cylinder #1. There is absolutely no clearance. So I’ll dig in later to see what shim is in it. I had them done professionally by a dude and when I got it back I took everything apart and cleaned them. Put it back together wrong I guess.

Thanks!
