which with a little whittlin and welding could render a cheap upper drop triple clamp.
just sayin.

Exactly what I've just done on my Z1R turbo project although the main reason was for a chunkier top yoke.
Ignore the bar clamp it wasn't finished in this pic.

i should have known zed!
your work is always inspiring.
in all the front end conversions i've done,i've seen some lower triples with quite a bit of drop and thought hey.
a lil imagination this might work.

nice to see your proof of concept

thanks for posting zed.

in the last three months i have been riding this bike as much as possible.
thrashing back roads and catching air off bumps etc. "TESTING" lol.
although the highway patrol that caught me on one run(tipping up exiting a corner at 98mph) wasn't sure my "TESTING" should be conducted on public roads  still got away with only a warning
i hauled the bike to austin so me and my wife could ride it to the handbuilt show.riding it around downtown atx was fun but the highways were intense.loud pipes really do save lives!
i love the weight loss and the corner stability is amazing.it's rock solid.whoever knew one finger brakes existed ! wow,i love the front brakes on this thing,
the upper triple shifted a lil negligibly.
by shifting i mean, rubbing your hand across the bolted together surfaces you could feel a few thousandths .
nuthin i was really concerned about.
but to allay any future concerns, i dis-assembled them and installed 3/8's stainless dowels.
all in all i am pleased with the conversion.
my wife on the other hand was not to proud of the diminished turning radius.:pinch:
that is taking some getting used to.parking lot maneuvers need to be a lot more deliberate.

BIke looks sinister as hell! I like it, a lot! Totally agree, those brakes are wonderful, and a much needed upgrade for spirited riding. Tell me, did you notice a much more stable feel at the higher speeds, possibly attributed to the lower offset trees adding to the trail of the bike?

Nice Job!

les,
the thing feels rally stable at speed.
but i believe that the weight loss is making it more susceptible to my movements when doing 4-5 gear shifts under hard acceleration and making it twitch a lil.
nothing scary, and when trying to make sure my movements are more concise it doesn't twitch.
thanks for the kind words.
i need to get started on the rest of the brackets to get the fairing and dash mounted now

The weight may be a factor, I can't say I've noticed the twitchy feeling myself but, it may be there and I just never recognized it.

thanks Dave and Eric .
i've never been a front brake only kinda guy.
but,
these brakes are kinda making me one.
almost out of laziness more than anything  because it is one finger (middle finger) easy to just haul the thing down from speed.
and definitely don't panic and grab a handful :pinch:
the braketech rotors are iron tho and rust overnight. which has got me considering options for replacement.
but at $750.00+ a set ...
i'm sure stock r1 components would serve me well enough.but it kinda seems like stepping back  we'll see.
