Almost there. was created by McZed
I’ve put about 50 miles on it so far and it seems to be running ok but there are still a few little things I will have to do. The starter motor seems to turn over a bit slow; I’m hoping it’s just dirty contacts. It could also do with a new set of plug leads, and a new set of tyres wouldn’t go amiss. The front suspension doesn’t seem to have much travel so I will have to check that out, but all things considered it’s turned out pretty well.
Cosmetically I’m not going to do anything; I prefer it to be in as near original condition as possible, this is going to be a bike for riding so I don’t want to get to precious with it. Any advice on the slow starter and front suspension would be appreciated. I have taken a few photos of it alongside my other two bikes; do you think I might have Kawasaki disease?

KZ problem? I don't see a problem here...

Fork? Someone could have put some different springs in there. Or used motor oil instead of the proper fork oil. Sounds like time for a good servicing. Then you will know what if anything needs to be done.

Cleaning the contacts and making sure you have a strong battery is the correct first step towards working out the slow starter. Next would be to take apart the starter to see if anything is amiss. Good luck. It shouldn't be overly difficult to figure out.

Yes, do both the Battery + to solenoid to starter

then do the Battery - to frame earth,

Old battery cables can corrode from the inside out.

kz1300 ;) definitely one for the 'total headbangers' specialist category.

I know this sounds crazy but... had a slow starter, tried and checked everything, replaced battery cables, added extra ground to starter, redid ground at engine ,, no help. then I swapped the battery and starter leads on the solenoid and the slow starter went away. spins faster now no problem. I realize that relays usually don't care which way the voltage is flowing, but in my case it did. easy to check.
