It sure looks sexy! I found a distributor here in Canada and messaged them. I currently run an integrated Acewell unit. It's good and all, bit I just miss the needle tach and being able to clearly see where you're running the engine. The built in tach on the Acewell is digital numbering along the bottom- maybe 1/4" tall by an inch wide. Not big enough for my standards.

Thanks kretch!

78 kz 650 custom
Wiseco 720cc big bore
Dynajet stage 3 carb kit with pods
2002 Kawasaki Z750 exhaust
2001 Buell lightning front end
1999 Ninja 600 swingarm with 1999 Ninja 900 rear rim
converted to monoshock rear
Too many goodies to list fully

The tach came from merlin motorsport in the uk. I was looking at integrated speedo / tach units and was tossing up the motogadget, but that didn't have some of the features I wanted. Not cheap, but I figure you spend the money on the bits that you see and use all the time! like levers, controls and instruments!

I;m curious, what features was the motogadget unit does not have ?, if they mowed the lawn and were good in bed, i'd marry one, they sure do everything else.... :P

You can't hookup a transponder to the motogadget chronoclassic for track timing. It does do voltage and temp which are the only other 2 things i wanted, but transponder will be useful in future. Also it's got integrated shift lights and a bunch of other features, and it suits my target aesthetic much better.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Yeah, I never really thought to look for parts actually made for the zephyr. Rare bikes here (in Aus) and each model year was different so I kinda gave up on zephyr parts and went with KZ.

More work done. Belly pan mounted and top yoke machined. Old stainless cone muffler cleaned up. Panelwork off to the painters tomorrow :)

Loving the Moriwaki top yoke.... I'm liking those Zephyr frames more and more as i look at them, very reminiscent of the late 70's, early 80's F1 bikes, I also like the color you've gone with for the frame, looks similar to the 1980's Moriwaki CBX750 frame... Actually, the whole bike looks like it... ;)

Yep, that was one of the inspiration bikes for the build (there were many!). I'm not that fussed on square section frames though, they just seem to draw the eye, like they were always meant to be hidden by bodywork. It's gonna be a real busy final month for this build. Still waiting on front fork rebuild and rear shocks which may delay things some. Also carb spigots from the states. My fault for not pulling the trigger earlier. And my sparky has pulled out of the re-wire, so need to find a new guy on short notice.

Anyway, will have more updates in a week or so once the painter has done his thing!

It's a satin silver. My painter matched the colour from the ZRX1200 swingarm and then repainted both. I was going to go black frame, but glad I changed my mind.

Carbs are now on. Having a few issues with pod filter clearance (as you can see with the K&N's. The stacks fit well, but I need something for filtration. Was looking at using 2x ramair filter socks, but having trouble getting the right size.

Anyone know of any short filters which might fit the bill?
