My KZ-1000P project bike........... process was created by Copbike1000
So, I have had quite a few guys ask me about the mods and how I completed them, on my 1994 KZ-1000P. I will take a crack at covering the process for you guys.

LTD seat install
LTD front fender
KZ rear tail section install
Z1-R style side cover install

LTD seat install. first off I purchased the seat from Z1parts.net, www.z1parts.net/product/kawasaki-ltd-seat-1976-1980

The seat just about fell into place. I did need to cut out two frame braces that were in the way, see pic below. I also needed to bend the seat hinge on the frame. I used a good sized cresent wrench. I also trimmed about 1/4 inch off of hinge for alignment, see pic. On rear hinge, I added a piece of fuel line to hold hinge pin in correct position.

Almost forgot, I had to trim the gas tank mounting tang, so that it would not contact the front of the seat. I have not installed the seat lock yet. It did not align correctly. Will get to it sometime.

LTD front fender install. FYI, the fender is narrower than the space between the forks so I had to install spacers between the fender and the fork mounts. I also re-drilled the fender so I could get the fender lower, over the tire. Looks way better!

KZ rear tail section install. To be honest, the tail is a temporary install so you will see zip ties holding the tail to the frame. I do have the tail bolted in place but, it is not bolted where it was designed to be. Once I had removed the two frame braces, for the LTD seat install, I had plenty of room for the tail install.

Z1-R style side cover install. First thing you will need to do is cut off the mounting posts on the covers. I used a cut-off wheel to complete this. I purchased a few 1-1/4 inch Black Nylon Power Wire Cable Clamps for upper mounts. you will need two 1- 1/2 inch, one for each cover to attach Bottom of cover to frame. This method of install worked out the best. I also love the fact that I can run the bike at high speeds without the side covers blowing off of the bike. Trust me, this has happened to me a couple times now! Lesson learned. I used allen screws as well as speed nuts, that you need to slide onto end of nylon clamp....

Interesting about side covers blowing off. Ive noticed , in my search for a right hand side cover for my CSR, that you cant find them.They all seem to be left hand covers and I always wondered if there were a gang of thieves out there pinching right hand covers!!
Also. whats going on with cutting out the frame braces? Have you lowered them or replaced them with something?

The two braces I removed were for Police radio box mount and the second one, I think was for the solo seat. They were not frame gussets or anything major. Although, I do hate cutting any braces, mounts...whatever! I do plan on installing a beefy plate to tie things back together, for peace of mind......

The parts you point to on the photo arent just to support the radio or seat. They are important and help to stiffen up the subframe. (If you notice the front one is right between your top shock mounts.) Kzs were never famous for solid frame construction or razor sharp handling to begin with and people spend good money on brace kits for a reason. Think about it.

I agree, you need to put a piece in there to tie it together. I'm going to add some gussets when I pull the head off and add some back there as well.
