1979 kz 650 muscle bike

in the great state of MN we have a abundance of these people called CRACK HEADS.. they spend there tax money on expensive stuff around March , they don't take care of it, and with in a year its broke, and they don't have money to fix it because they spent it all on drugs.. so now their out of drugs and money and they start selling all there stuff for 90% off... cause all they are thinking about is getting high...
I got a deal they got what they wanted both parties happy, happy, happy.... its sad but that's how it is for some people,

Looks good Do you still have the wire harness from the 636 . My son needs one .

yes I believe I do still have it.. I say that because a friend has same bike and needed harness too cause of electrical issues from stuff the owner before him did and kind of F#$@ed it up.. I can check though for you..

Theres a reason the zx6 has a plastic chain guide, I'm running it on my build, you going with dual shocks I take it? They look great on that swingarm

Be careful of the chain running over the top of the swingarm with the steeper angle.

yeah, thanks for reminding me, I did space on that.. good thing I ordered both set ups that are different lengths.. either one if it don't work I can use on one of my other bikes.. so I wont totally be out..

yes im going with dual as of now,, for this year atleast.. I am going to fab up this winter a mono that I have been working on that will function very well (I hope..lol) and have a real mechanical look.. But with this I like the dual to keep that older but updated look..

mounting rear sets today, first found position then center punched spot on frame

drilled hole

turned and taped pieces to insert in hole I drilled



then welded and bolted

positioned and mounted rear sets today

center punchto drill

drilled hole and made the inserts along with drilled and taped them

after the rear sets I was able to make more progress on my seat pan.. still in the crude stage . I have much more metel work to..

Rearsets look good . What brand are they ?

i have a question. this being my first Kawasaki build or ever owned. im wanting to put a newer set of carbs on this 650. any one have any info or advice as fare as what I could use for newer carbs or better carbs then the old original. reason being the ones I have are in real poor condition with set screws and needles stuck along with broken parts. so I figured if im putting money in to them I may as well see if theres a good upgrade avalible that any of you may recommend. thanks

Maybe a cheaper set of 26VM Mikuni carbs ?

Actually I've never had a set of carbs that I couldn't get broken parts out of.... Maybe you just need to get workin' on those.
