I submitted my engine info to Burns Stainless and received the following recommendations for a stepped header. Its not too far from what I currently have

After two years of head scratching, I think this is the easiest way to adapt an oil cooler to this engine. Reclock the filter cover, and tap the cases for 1/4"npt

Thought I'd share this observation here for interested parties. The late model connecting rods are a much more refined design, bigger and smoother radii everywhere. It may not seem like much but these details make for a significantly stronger rod.

Perhaps the oil is cooled by spraying it all over the transmission case and letting the breeze take the heat away. A large hole in the top of the case will let the cooled oil drop back into the sump where the pump can pick it up again.

Gives new meaning to air/oil cooled!
I actually cracked the edge of that cover trying to hold it in a vise so i had to make some wooden jaws to hold it. The existing holes are already perfectly sized for a 1/4"NPT tap. I used 1/4npt -8 AN fittings. I got steel fittings so I could drill out the 1/4" NPT side to match the 8AN diameter without loosing strength.

Saving up money for this engine build has been taking a long time. Race parts are not cheap
