Hey Forrest! Sounds like you really hit the ground running! I stayed local, " shaking everything down" (looking for potential road problems)...She seems to be running pretty well, I think some small jetting adjustments might be in the cards, (got what feels to me like valves floating at about 7 grand, and slight hesitation off the line...hafta search the threads!) I really need to confirm valves are shimmed correctly...I think I might have logged 60 miles or so...I glanced down at odometer while out, and saw her turn 22,200 miles...."25 degrees" ? Is that in farenheit? :woohoo: LOL! you must have warmer riding gear than I do! 40 degrees is about my limit..any colder, and it takes most of the fun out of it for me! Chattanooga was a great place to live...at least every week or two through the Winter would offer up a day one could ride to work....business slacks + temps below 40 F = chilly Grumpy!

Yup Farenheit, What I did not share in my previous post, I rode my 2011 Concours. It has a fairng, windshield and heated grips. AND, yes I effectively layered and by that afternoon I peeled some off. I don't mind getting out in the cold on my KZ but let's face it coupled with the low temps early and distances I covered the C-14 was the better choice. ;)

I guess the lesson here is that, new side cover grommets don't mean a thing if one doesn't sock the pins home. Lost a side cover...Fortunately, it was a fleabay replacement, and I still had the original. (Along with the snapped off pin!) After hitting ACE and lowe's, I discovered that, not only has ABS pipe been phased out, but the glue along with it! Found this tidbit on the "innerwebs".... ACETONE!!! for abot $9, I got a small container of solvent and a disposable putty knife... "ahh, to spread something" I hear you say, but nay! It is that putty knife, which is itself, spread! after 20 minutes of shaving slivers off the putty knife, (which I took an educated guess on, and was correct) into a baby food jar, added a splash of the solvent, capped it, and left overnight...and what to my wondering eyes should appear the next morning, but my own personal version of "The Blob"! A nice black gooey ball of ABS putty! I discovered that it doesn't even stick to one's fingers. spread it around, bridging the entire break on the back side (1' section or so), let it cure till the next day, and voila! Assuming I can pop it off to get my solenoid on (as soon as it gets here!) It be fixed! a little ugly on the back side, but felt quite solid snapping on...Just an FYI for anybody else in the same boat!

That's great thinking, I was thinking the same thing at the beginning of your story (3D Printers use the hell out of some DIY abs glue). Nice fix, how's the fixed piece look?

Kinda "lumpy" on the back, but who cares! the seam on the face is butted up tight, but under the bottom lip of cover, so it won't show anyway...If I think about it tonight I'll pop it off and snap a couple pix! Gotta love the innerwebs! Better living through chemistry! LOL!

I didn't want to start a new thread for one pic so I just slid it in here...I sold this little puppy a couple of years ago, but had a lot of fun building it with my son (and riding it!)...Gentlemen, I give you, "the Cheaper chopper"....Schwin Stingray with an 80cc Chinese 2 stroke single.

Buncha new sparky parts...revs smooth to redline...backfiring on decelleration is gone...small lag off the line, but the only real problem I am having currently is trying to explain to my VP why she can't go with me! Have a happy holiday weeken, all! Ride safe
