Thanks! After finding an air passage that had a larger hole than the other (3), I thought I had to replace one of the carb bodies. Long story short, I don't think it matters. So there were (2) other changes made....not really sure which fixed the problem.
Problem 1: Needle valve assemblies were too small....2.0 vs. 2.5....so I replaced those with new parts.
Problem 2: I found (2) loose slides. I was able to wiggle the slides up and down with my finger on the #2 and #3 cylinders. I think this was causing the "stuttering" problem I was having. Those slides were probably rattling around as the air flow increased. One carb had some worn parts in the mechanism that attaches the slide to the throttle shaft. There are a bunch of tiny little parts in the area...it's not solid. There are "ball and socket" type connections with springs and cupped pucks etc... One of the cupped pucks was all beat up and sloppy. The other cylinder was loose from the same problem I had with these before. I don't know if it was the one I fixed or another one, but I had to solder the post on the slide bracket. I'll be looking for some used ones for spares. It was this part:

What a difference is the valve seats:

The more I think about it and look at those valve seats...maybe it was starving for fuel the whole time? Main jet changes didn't make a difference and it completely cut out and stuttered at anything past half throttle. I don't know if the fuel could disappear so quickly though....the stuttering was instant. I would think it would run OK for some time until the bowl ran empty. Maybe it was barely keeping up at cruising speeds? I don't know....... :S

Hey mate, BEAUTIFUL bike you have there!
A question if I might though, I noticed you have stock floating calipers with EBC floating front discs and what might be stock master cylinder, I am wondering what improvement in braking you get with the EBC ROTORS?

Keep up the good work,
Wayne.

Thanks! The calipers are stock but I changed out the master cylinder with the dual disc model. The single and dual versions look almost identical but they are different. As far as performance goes....unfortunately I can't say yet. It's been almost a year and I think I've put about 10 miles on it. Seriously hoping that will change this year.

So have you ridden this bike or what? I'm hoping you have been too busy riding to write anything. I am doing a bunch of the same stuff, slowly, not much time to do it nevermind write about it. thanks for this thread it was inspirational.

Yes! I love it! Did some amazing riding last summer with it and hope to do more this year. We rode the "triple nickel" last year....state route 555 in southeast Ohio....amazing! The only change I made was to go slightly bigger on the rear sprocket. I went overboard with the gearing to make it comfortable on the highway and it was a little too much (too little?) for everywhere else.
