Anyway, this will be the head to get properly built for the upgraded powerplant in this bike. I will get this head done, scrape together a set of cams, 1075 kit, and better carbs. That way, I can get the motor out and back in the bike quickly.

I got it for $113 plus $21 shipping. The sniping programs will automatically place all of those last second bids for you. Way faster than you can manually enter bids. Sorry if I beat you out, stay with it, you will get one. It took me about a month.

I thought it was black from the top photo...that's some hella grime. Congrats on the head - seems okay other than needing a cleanup and some love from the head-master.

At least it arrived with all it's fins intact. The last head I bought arrived with a busted fin  and a handful of helicoil repairs, not to mention a #3 sparkplug hole that SHOULD have been helicoiled  I trust your head arrived in better shape without any suprises Josh?

Mechanically, the head seems to be in good condition. Honestly, I haven't had time to really get a close look at all the spark plug holes, but on first glance didn't see any stripped threads. Actually it looks like a low mile head. There is very little in the way of carbon deposits on the valves and combustion chambers. Looks like somebody had a leaky valve cover gasket or tach drive because all that black you see on the outside is just oily dirt. It should clean up easily. This might have to be on the back burner for a little while. I have a few other loose ends that need tying on some other projects.

Edit: BTW thanks Jake. It's good to see you stop by every once in a while.

Uh, I didn't take a shot from the end, yet. If memory serves it's round on the ends. The ebay auction said it was from a 79 LTD. That bike carried over the same engine as the 78, right?

You can see the round cam caps in this pic.

EDIT: when I say cam caps I mean the cam end plugs.
