Hey Josh, I'm really happy for you that this bike turned out so nice. A real piece of art! But at the same time I'm almost sorry to see that the build is done. I will miss watching your progress every day. :(

I know, you'll just have to change some stuff on it once in awhile to keep us all happy!

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words. I'm pretty stoked to see what the general public has to say about the bike. We'll see if she passes the gas station test.

So tonight, I got the front brake light switch connected. Camaroguy, I found the mini female spade connectors at O'Reilly's. They are expensive little buggers. All they stock are the gold plated ones at $7 for 10 pcs. They turned out to be a little too narrow, so I filed the contacts down to fit. Wiring is 100% done. :woohoo:

I also got the tail piece color sanded and buffed out. The one little run that I had seemed to come out easily, and I didn't burn through my clear. :) I still need to cut and buff the tank, finish buff one sidecover, and buff the front fender. That should be the end of my body work.

Marneman, you shouldn't have to suffer too much withdrawal. I'll probably take a short break from this project to get my recently aquired Suzuki roadworthy. Once that is done I will get around to tuning using my wideband 02 sensor setup. I have planned to log data from the 02 sensor, rpm, throttle position, and MAP. So I have some sensors to rig up. I also need to get my suspension set up correctly. That should be good for a week or so of posts. I haven't yet figured out a speedometer, but I think I have a plan. Wait for that one, it will be cool. Last but not least, I will build a hipo motor. I'm thinking 1075 with 10.25 to 1 pistons, welded 900 crank (I already have that), port and polish, and cams. That will have to wait for money. Oh yeah, and I already have a couple of sets of carbs to test out, and I plan on providing hard numerical data instead of random butt dyno results.

In short, I ain't done, not by a long shot. This is just phase one. The other stuff might come a little more slowly, but I'll keep posting.

This picture is for camaroguy. It's the mini spade connectors:

:woohoo: Yeah baby!:woohoo: My bike is complete!

Finished buffing all of the paint this evening, and got it all hung back on the bike. Spent a lot of time crawling around checking for loose fasteners, missing bolts, etc. Hooked up the tank, poured the gas, and she fired right up. Only she wanted to idle at 3500 rpm even when I got the choke off. WTF! Well I had a look at the throttle linkage on the carbs, and could see that I didn't get the pull cable well seated in the groove. Once I pushed that back in place all was right with the world.

We had a really warm day today, so I decided to take a little trip. So I rode across the street to the nearest gas station for a fill up. After that, I took a little 15 min shakedown run. Not usually a good idea to ride around here at 11:00 pm on Friday night, but I couldn't resist. Ohhhhh yeahhh. This is a good day. The only fault that I can find is what seems to be a little leanness in the transition from the pilot jets to the needles. One simple solution to that problem. MORE THROTTLE!

My findings are as follows:
The brakes are KILLER. Everybody needs 14 pistons on one bike.
The handling is very stable up to about 75mph. I'm guessing at the speed, since my speedo isn't connected. I got her up to 7000rpm in fourth before I got out of it.
The engine pulls really strong for just being rough tuned, and I know there's more.
It's comfortable, everything is in the right place. I would only have myself to blame if something didn't fit me right.

I just hope I can squeeze in enough time to get the inspection tomorrow. Two birthday parties tomorrow (Including Brandy's) and we have to attend a funeral for one of our neighbors. I think if I hit the inspection shop at 8:00 I can get it done. Wish me luck.

Kudo's Josh, on finishing your bike. Even though we started about the same time, my progress has been somewhat slower. It is VERY nice to see your bike completed and road worthy. I shall toast you well this weekend B)

Man I wish I could of seen the grin on your face. I have finished a few car projects in my time and there is nothing like the feeling of rolling em out on their own power for the first time. Great work Josh B)
