woohoo did a test run last night..

All went well but I have a rattle in the engine now..

when pulling the clutch it dissapears, and then rev the engine no rattle.. releasing the clutch will return the rattle.. Although i think i had this before when the exhausts werent fitted properly on the engine (now the number 4 is not flush on the bike, u can feel the air escaping at the exit of the engine)

Will redo the exhausts tonight and see if it helped.. if not i could be up sh*t creek as it might be the clutch or something..

Anyone got any ideas of what it might be?

Great stuff, yggy.....and, yes, you're probably correct in your diagnosis of the rattle. I'm betting that your clutch basket bearing is knackered....or....
It COULD also maybe be the cush-drive springs in the basket that are shot.
The way to check the springs is to diassemble the clutch. Holding the basket assembly in your hands, try to turn the basket by the "fingers" with one hand while holding the ring gear stationary with your other hand. If you have any relative motion between the two parts of the basket....Oh, Oh !!! :(
If the springs are REALLY bad, you will be able to move them back and forth easily in their "cages".
This whole problem is made worse/noisier by out-of-balance carbs, what with the cylinders not firing in a precise fashion.
There is/was a guy in the UK that had rebuilt his basket himself with some springs he got from somewhere and also some rivets to re-rivet everything together. There was talk in the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine that he was going to offer clutch basket rebuild services....
but I haven't seen anything more on this guy or how he made out with the basket rebuild.
I should maybe email an enquiry off to CMM to see if he ever got the problem solved and how everything turned out with him.

yo,

Sadly I didnt have any time this weekend (was on a trip to Bastogne, Ardennes, belgium to visit the war museums etc)

Will take off and refit the exhausts one more time to see if i can get the exhausts closed.. will see after that if the engine clatter is gone.. (dont think so but who knows..)

after a few weeks of inactive "garage time" (blast all that work at my job)

Tried firing up the bike, went ok, now i was thinking to fiddle with the camchain tension adjuster.. can i just rotate that torx screw a bit outward? so tension would get higher of the camchain? Or is this not the way to do it. i cant find anything about this in the clymer nor haynes.

im so close to finish the bike so i can enjoy it till december or so

Ello Peeps..

Still working on and off on the bike (too much to do and jet so little time)

I got this fairing yesterday, together with some other stuff

Is this a infamous Rickman fairing? Don't know what ill do with it yet, might sell it or might just hoist it up to the frame :)

My windsheild is from another fairing. It was on there when I bought it. The stock Rickman fairing is lower than the one on mine. I'd like to find a soarce for an original, so if you find them let me know.

Dibs!!!:woohoo:

I'd need to know how much you want for it first, and of course what post would cost to the 91723 zip code in the U.S.
That way I can run it past my "warden" and see if she gives me the green light to buy it - she owes me one right now anyway.
