My turn signal switch is sticky. It works but it require far more pressure to move it out of a setting than it does to put it into the setting. The result is that when I'm trying to cancel, I usually end up setting the other side to flash instead. This has caused me to become quite flustered on the road, and has become a major distraction and I need to fix the problem...

Are there any repro switches? I'd like to try to keep it stock or at least looking stock. If not are there any solutions? Any after market setups that people have bought and liked?

I would try to disassemble & clean the handlebar control switch.

A friend of mine suggested PB Blaster, which I don't have and had never heard of, but apparently it's a penetrating oil. I have WD40 which is also a penetrating oil... A few squirts into the gap under the switch and now it's working like new...

Crisis averted!

I've never actually had WD40 do anything useful before. Like when I was unsticking my rear brake (my KZ was laying half in parts in a driveway for 15 years just before I bought it) I used Metal Rescue to get rid of the rust and loosen it up enough that it could be disassembled and reassembled without problem. I'd tried WD40 and it just didn't work...

Now that you have it free squirt some lithium grease in there and in the other switches.

Regular wd40 isn't really a penetrant, but a water-displacing light lubricant. It has it's uses, but not for freeing stuck bolts & probably not for electricals. pb blaster didn't do as good as Liquid wrench penetrating spray lubricant in a test that's floating around the internet. I've had good luck w LW. Kroil is supposed to be best, but I haven't had a need for it yet.

"Detoxit" is something you use for a coke or opioid problem, lol.Deoxit is good stuff. There are a few different variations of Deoxit,I use it a lot in my amp repair business.I prefer a contact cleaner with no lubricant.Lubricants attract and hold dirt and dust causing more problems.Any of the commercial "contact cleaner"sprays are good, just get one that doesnt leave a residual lubricant.I have a can of something called Pow-R-Wash on my bench right now.Cleans well and leaves no lubricant.

..

BUT ----

Once a bit of time has passed that WD40 residue will form a gun like substance that will cause more problems with the contacts. Do yourself a favor and flush that all out of there with Deoxit. Ed

Gotta love auto correct

I like the stuff with lube for the switches, but as you say it may attract a little dirt.

Same here. That's one of the nice things about Deoxit-D5. It not only cleans the contacts; it also contains a lubricant specifically formulated for electrical contacts. ed
