Hello. In this forum after a lot of search, i read about the fact that:
-Lean mix screws adjustment: a bit slowly return to idle

-Rich mix screws: fast return , eventually BELOW idle rpms and then up to idle.

In many other sites and forums i read its the opposite... too rich pilot screws and then the rpm hangs before go to idle again.

What is the correct theory? If we talk about CV carbs?
Experience about? Someone had to investigate it?

Most CV's apart from the emission control carbs have an adjustable idle circuit control, the manual lists it as a number of turns out + _ 1/2 a turn. Any mods of pipes and pods and that figure can be different.

You'll know when it is right, crisp on the throttle with a nice 'whom whom' sound - out of balance carbs makes the revving sound different -and worse.

A lot of idle tickover problems are out of balance carbs or intake leaks.

With muti crabs then usual diagnostics applies to a single carb don't work unless the balance is just right, often disguising other issues.

You are right, but im talking about the "general rule " referring to a bike with new intake boots, ignition, correct valve clearance, good compression etcetc..

When I adjust the pilot circuits I wait ten seconds before I turn the screw to let the carb catch up. Once done I'll raise the RPM's to about 2500 and listen for a miss then dial it out.
