I got two sets of carburetors when I bought my '81 KZ650. One was on the bike and the correct model (VM24SS) but needed work. The previous owner also gave me another set that he said were on the bike when he got it. He recommended that I put this other set back on because it ran great with them.

I'm wondering if someone can tell me what model these are and whether or not it would make any sense to put them back on my KZ650.

FYI: I already have the VM24's off and will be cleaning them soon. I fully intend to use those. I'm just curious about this other model and why they might have been installed in the past.

Thanks,

Barry

Look like 29mm smoothbores. You can measure the bores and find out.

Okay, I don't have the carbs at my house so I'll try to get my hands on them tomorrow and look for the magic brass bead in your photo. I'll post an update with my findings.

I've looked up a bunch of internet pics for this model and I've seen both bowl types (assuming the people posting those photos know what they're talking about).

Great stuff as usual, guys. Thanks so much.

Those floatbowls look like the ones used on pumper carbs minus the fittings that link them with fuel.

Their 29's if you look close in the o/p's last pic you can see the box casting next to the spring.
With those bowls they could be a rare set of VM29 pumper's.

Steve if I right some VM28 used the same big plug in the bowls.
