In the 2012 NHRA rule book Section 4C page 14, you will find that wheelie bars are OPTIONAL.
If you do choose to run a wheelie bar the "Maximum length may be equal to, but not exceed
the wheel base of the motorcycle. Wheelie bar length is measured from the center of the rear
axle to the center of wheelie bar wheel

So when I built my last bar I used
3/4x120 wall tube as I had it on hand
but it's heavy IMHO.

Went to get some tube this morning
and all they had was 3/4x.120 DOM at about $75 buck's
and just as heavy or 3/4x.060 in a welded seam
for about a buck a foot.

So question for those in the know you think
the .060 wall would be strong enough ?

Have you ever run it with shocks and no bar? My 60" no-bar bike used to run mid 1.5s in the sixty.

Lorcan I've gone 12.12 @ 105,93 with a 1.71 60 ft no bar with the strut's
stock rim on a 130mm Dunlop spinnig about 50 ft. out.


I haven't ran the bar with the longer swing arm and the 3.5" wide rim
but right now it want's to wheelie bad when/if it hooks up.
With the street tire I never know what it's gonna do
some time's it hook's and some time's it spin's it a$$ off
so I'm working on putting a slick on it and will need the bar again.

Michelin Power One, that will hook! Ryan Schnitz went 6.90 at 204 mph on it with no bar. Buddy of mine running it on his turbo busa, 70" wheel base run 7.13 at 199 mph, 60's in the mid 1.3's. I went to it and it's better than the shinko.

Got a little done on the new bar Friday night.
Then later in the night the G/F decided to
break a bunch of bone's in her right foot
so that f@@ked my weekend all up.

Guess I'm having wheelie bar for lunch at work
for a few day's.

I got the lower bar's and axle welded up and the
tab's for the upper links made.
Should get them on welded at lunch tomorrow
then double check my upper link measurement's
and weld them up.

I'll get some pic. tomorrow.
