77 kz1000 engine build was created by jowek70
Decided to make a thread after lots of research on this site and several others
My dad has an old kz my brothers and I are gong to make into a great sleeperish street bike
I have access to a great engine builder and want to solidify a few things before dropping the engine off to him
We are running the wiseco 1075 piston kit, porting the head, bigger carbs (not sure which yet), web cams (rec grind #110) and possibly welding the crank.
Am I missing anything ?
This bike will never see the drag strip but will be mainly a stop light racer.
Feel free to share info and knowledge in any form
Look forward to working with you guys
Oh and we added a dynatek ignition already

Clean/check everything internally for wear, including the crank.

I like the Z1 styling. If you really want a sleeper, go with the 4/4 pipes then leave em in the weeds. :woohoo:

Heavy duty clutch hub rebuild. Check KZ Zone at APE.
Oh, and send the crank to Pearson or Gardner (spelling?).

I guess it all depends on how much you want to spend, I have a 1075, back cut trans, ported head, Mikuni RS 34's, Dyna ignition, wires & coils
& stock cam"s, V/H header, K& N pods, & it's plenty fast, & I have sprockets geared for the highway , if you do what your planning on doing so far, & just change your sprockets to 1/4 mile gearing you'll be surprised at how fast it'll be,
& if it's not fast enough , go for a Turbo kit,

Great to hear
A more acceleration oriented gear ratio is what we were planning on doing
