so im trying to get my 750 on the road.
I checked my ignition timing today and it was alligning with the T (TDC) mark and not with the F mark. the manual tells me that at idle it should be pointing at my F mark( idle being around 1000 to 1100 RPM) but it doesent. it dosent explain how to fix it...... it says that its not adjustable the only thing it says is that the timing advacner should be rebuilt which it was. its moving freely and fine. . so im confused... what am i doing wrong

How was the timing advancer rebuilt? New springs or what?

If the bike is new to you & you've never seen it run, make sure it's the correct advancer. Kawasaki.com.

Loosen the pick up plate three m5 bolts, run motor with strobe and rotate until F aligns with the timing mark, then check that it will advance fully as the rpm increase.

the advancer seems to be working properly. it does advance as RPMS rise. but instead of advancing from the F mark to the 2 dashes (as the manual said) it advances from the T mark to the F mark. its like if the timing would be way retarded. bike does start up no problem and idles fine (maybe a little sluggish)

this is what i think the problem is. But the bolts don't allow for any movement the plate just has bolts drilled to them not slots so i can't move it left or right. i might buy a dyna ignition and get it right that way.

Get a rats tail file and slot the mount plate holes a few mm, easy enough.

so i again rebuild my timing advancer this time for reals. everything is moving smoothly and greased all nice and good even de-rusted the MotheFckrr. now according to my MANUAl it says that the "Peak on the rotor" aka the peak on the cam. should aling with the TEC mark which it dosent align. and there is no position in which it will align. the peak on the cam is alinging to the side in which the TEC mark is at but not at the mark. anybody know anything about this. and the pictures in my manual aren't good at all.

I've never chencked ignition timing onmy 1980 750/4 E1. Factory set and never needed to. Your post got methinking so I went out and took the timing cover off and this is what I see. When the pointy part of the cam is pointing at the litte metal thingy on the pulse coil then the advancer F mark is aligned with the static mark. I can see this throught the ispection hole with a light.

When I remove the pulse coil plate without touching anything you can see the F mark aligned with the static mark,

I havnt taken the advancer off but it looks like it may onle go together one way and since I dont have a problem with timing I figure this is the way its supposed to be.

Hope this makes sense and hope it helps
Good luck
